Rude Cookies
Rude Cookies is Scotland’s, if not the UK’s, rudest cafe in Shawlands, Glasgow who sell all things cookies, cakes and more. They started as a business in 2020 but it wasn’t until September last year (2023) that the cafe came to fruition.
The attention to detail in their cookies and the cafe’s interior is off the scale. The walls are a bright, fuschia pink and the artwork is all on-brand. I’ll save the rest so it’s a surprise when you visit but please make a point to go to the bathroom for a good look around if possible.
As well as the wacky decor, also displayed on the walls of the cafe is an assortment of rudely decorated cookies. These change daily based on what is currently in stock, a.k.a the cookies available may slightly differ from my photos, but you’re always guaranteed a decent selection so don’t worry!
I loved the designs and can appreciate the creativity and time that went into hand-piping icing on each sugar cookie. However, I would have liked to have seen some even ruder cookies but I’m aware that that could just be the Scottish humour in me talking because I appreciate rudeness is subjective.
I picked up five different cookies and the total bill totalled almost £40. I didn’t clock the price of every single design but from what I did see they ranged from around £5-£12…please take this price range with a pinch of salt. Each cookie comes heat sealed which helps extend how long the cookies will last but I almost immediately ate mine as soon as I got home.
As far as taste goes, these are nothing special. They’re a bog standard sugar cookie that was verging on being stale. I would have loved these to be great-tasting cookies to match the design but I feel like this product of theirs is more of a gift that can make the recipient laugh rather than a sweet treat you’d buy for yourself just for fun.
There was also a range of stuffed cookies which may be more enjoyable to eat if you’re sitting in the cafe enjoying a cookie/coffee combo (they can even heat the stuffed cookies for you in the cafe to make the centre nice and gooey!).
To conclude, Rude Cookies is a very Instagrammable cafe in Glasgow that sells rude and skillfully crafted cookies. It’s very much style over substance but makes up for it by providing an endless amount of laughter. If you’re in the market for a funny gift (birthday/wedding/graduation etc.) and are not bothered if the cookie will or won’t blow your socks off, then you know where to go!
