Manna House Bakery
With so many cafes in and around Edinburgh, it can be hard to pick where you want to spend your money. But when I say you should RUN to Manna House Bakery, I’m not joking!
Manna House Bakery opened its doors in 2017 in South Queensferry. Not only is the view of the Three Bridges absolutely spectacular from the cafe but every item they sell is made in-house and they’re dog-friendly.
Last year I took a day trip to South Queensferry to check out the House of Böe flagship store and ended up stumbling into Manna House Bakery to get my coffee fix. From the outside, it had a colourful garland which drew me in and little did I know it would soon become one of my favourite cafes/bakeries in the city.
Although they do have a hot food menu you can order from, my eyes are always drawn to the sandwiches, wraps, salads and sweet treats in the displays.
On my most recent trip, I went for their sun-dried tomato, pesto and mozzarella focaccia toast. The focaccia bread they use is absolutely to die for — it toasts SO well and comes out nice a crispy. As always, I also ordered a coffee to go alongside my toast.
I’d also like to shine a light on how large the portion sizes are here. Compared to other cafes around Edinburgh, it definitely is on the pricier side. However, in my opinion, the portion sizes and quality of both the food and coffee make up for it. Not only that, the staff inside are always so friendly and exactly what you want from your local coffee spot.
So to round up, here’s everything I love about Manna House Bakery:
- The food is divine
- The staff are all super friendly
- Said staff make great coffee
- The view is unmatched
- They’re dog-friendly
PSA: they also have some great gluten-free & veggie options! I did notice there wasn’t as much choice for people on a vegan diet though.
