5 Food & Drinks Spots to Try When Visiting St Andrews

St. Andrews is a beautiful little seaside town on the East coast of Scotland, known for its many golf courses such as the Old Course (which we’ll come to in a bit!). Whether you’re there for a holiday, a spot of golf or just simply passing by, here are five food and drinks spots (six if you count the second option for dinner I’ve included…) to keep you fuelled throughout your trip:

CombiniCo.

CombiniCo is a small, modern and minimal spot in the centre of St. Andrews that takes its inspiration from Asian convenience stores. Although they have spent lots of time perfecting their Korean and Japanese-influenced to-go food menu, you can’t go wrong with their drinks. Whether it’s a coffee or a more mellow matcha, these drinks will set you up for a great (caffeine-filled) day!

Rocca

Rocca is a small and busy Italian deli. Despite its buzzing atmosphere, it’s worth waiting in the queue for one of their panini’s. Don’t worry though, there’s so much to choose from or bits and bobs to buy that the time will pass in no time.

Janetta’s

A St. Andrews institution! Need I say anymore? This one is a must-visit and I can assure you that you will be in gelato HEAVEN as soon as you step through the doors.

18

Hidden at the top of the Rusacks Hotel, you’ll not want to miss out on visiting 18. This restaurant bar has the most gorgeous terrace with unrivalled views across St. Andrews Old Course’s 18th hole (hence the name!) and West Sands Beach. If you get lucky with a warm night and arrive in time for sunset, I can guarantee this will be a highlight of your trip. Warning: the cocktails are lethal!

Steak Barn

It is what it says on the tin, a steakhouse in a barn. A little off the beaten track, this place is one worth travelling for. The staff at Steak Barn’s love and care for serving great cuts of meat that are cooked to perfection is unmatched.

Tailend

Your classic chippy…but better! With every meal cooked to order, unlike your usual chip shop, sometimes you’ve just got to end your night with a freshly fried fish/sausage supper. A cheaper and more casual option if Steak Barn isn’t your thing!
